By lucky coincidence, this year’s Giving Tuesday coincides with the first day of the month. To celebrate, we’re extending it to a Month of Giving. Each day, we’ll highlight a community organization that is giving back to the community and can use your help.
Worcester faces many challenges with regards to hunger, food insecurity, childhood obesity, and the health of all citizens. At the same time, Worcester is blessed with dozens of organizations that step up to help those who need help. This month, we’re going to feature as many as we can and ask you to share your love, time and good fortune with the community.
December 1 – Kids Cafe of Worcester
Every week since 1998, Steve Tankanow has served a twice-weekly nutritious, hot meal to the kids (and their families) who are engaged in afternoon activities at the Boys and Girls Club of Worcester. The Kids Cafe of Worcester serves 200-300 people per meal, and it’s powered by individual and group volunteers.
As you might guess, it’s a lot of work to put on a meal for 200+ people, and the folks at Kids Cafe are always happy to have help prepping and serving food – not to mention, cleaning up after the meal. It’s a great opportunity for individual volunteers, or for a group volunteer effort.
Kid’s Cafe of Worcester is located at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester at 65 Tainter Street, Worcester, MA 01610. For additional information, to volunteer, or to make a donation, please contact Steve Tankanow at the Kids Cafe, (508) 792-5409. Tax deductible donations can be made out to Kid’s Cafe of Worcester and mailed to 333 Shrewsbury Street, Worcester, MA 01604.
